Northern Lights #5 was first developed in 1989, winning the cannabis cup in 89, 90, and 92. NL5 is one of the most influential strains of all time, utilized by breeders and growers alike for the past three decades.
 The “Purest Indica” strain, also known as the Steve Murphy Afghan IBL (Inbred Line), holds a significant place in cannabis history. It originated as the original variety within the Northern Lights lineage. Acquired in 1979 by Seattle Greg from the breeder Murphy Stevens, this strain became the backbone for all subsequent Northern Lights hybrids.
